Donlyn Lyndon


Donlyn Lyndon is Eva Li Professor of of Architecture and Urban Design, Emeritus, at the University of California, Berkeley. His work as an architect, educator, and author has been widely recognized. His architectural and urban design practice has included ongoing work at Sea Ranch, on the coast of California, where, with MLTW, he was one of the designers of Condominium One, which subsequently received the 25 Year Award from the AIA. His urban design practice has included plans for several California cities, including Pasadena, Menlo Park and Berkeley. In 1997 he received the Topaz Award from the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, the highest award in architectural education.

He is the of several books, including The Sea Ranch (with Jim Alinder) and The City Observed: Boston; with Charles Moore, he is co-author of Chambers for a Memory Palace and The Place of Houses. He was a founder and for many years the editor of Places: Forum of Design for the Public Realm.
