Richard Campanella


Geographer Richard Campanella is Senior Professor of Practice in the School of Architecture at Tulane University. 
Campanella maps and analyzes the historical and present-day geography of the New Orleans region. He is the author of several critically acclaimed books, including Bienville’s DilemmaGeographies of New Orleans, Delta Urbanism: New Orleans and Lincoln in New Orleans, as well as book chapters and articles in American History, the Journal of Architectural Education, Technology in Society, Geochemistry and Health, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, among others. 
Campanella's work has twice received the Louisiana Endowment of the Humanities Book of the Year Award. He has also received the Williams Prize for Louisiana History, the Mortar Board Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the Monroe Fellowship from the Center for the Gulf South at Tulane.
