Amy Murphy

Amy Murphy is associate professor and vice dean at the University of Southern California School of Architecture. Murphy's interests and practice straddle the professions of architecture and film. She has worked in architectural offices in both Boston and Los Angeles, and completed several film projects. Her architectural work has been exhibited in New York, Des Moines, Providence, and Los Angeles. Her films have been shown in several US film festivals. Before joining the USC faculty, Murphy taught architectural design and drawing at Iowa State University and the Boston Architectural Center. She has been a sole practitioner with her own office, Amy Murphy Projects, since 1996, and has completed numerous residential projects in the Los Angeles area, including the restoration and renovation of R. M. Schindler's Yates Studio in Silverlake. Her research focuses on the relationship between visual culture and urban planning. She holds degrees from the Rhode Island School of Design and USC.
