Javier Arbona

Javier Arbona is a doctoral candidate in geography at UC Berkeley, where he studies the transformations of military landscapes and the functions of memory in military urbanism. More broadly, he writes about the disciplines of architecture, landscape, and planning. He’s a founding member of the #Demilit collective, a cohort of creators interested in deciphering the entanglements of militarization with everyday life and space.

Javier is a former chief editor of Archinect, and a lecturer at the California College of the Arts (affiliated with the UrbanLab). His recent article on R&Sie(n) appeared in Architectural Design (Wiley UK).
