Sandra Vivanco

Sandra Vivanco is principal of the San Francisco based firm, A+D, Architecture+Design, and Associate Professor of Architecture and Cultural Diversity at the California College of the Arts.

The work of A+D has been widely recognized. Several residential projects have featured in San Francisco Modern Homes and Casas en la Ciudad, Architectural Houses, and in 2010 Vivanco was selected as one of 10 Architects to Watch by California Home & Design.

Born in Perú, to parents from Perú and Colombia, Vivanco moved to the Bay Area to study at the University of California, Berkeley, and later received her master's from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia. Vivanco has practiced architecture in Japan, Portugal, Italy and Brazil, and taught at Barnard and Columbia in New York, UC Berkeley and CCA in the Bay Area, and Escola da Cidade in São Paulo and Universidad Ricardo Palma in Lima. She has written several articles on 20th-century Latin American architecture — focusing especially on postwar Brazil — and contributed chapters to Transculturation, Cities, Spaces and Architectures in Latin America and Baroque New Worlds.
