Tim Love

Tim Love’s Boston-based architecture and urban design firm, Utile, works on a wide range of urban projects, including infill housing, public spaces, master plans and institutional projects. Recent assignments include the Boston Harbor Islands pavilion near Quincy Market and a new public ferry terminal on the Boston waterfront. The firm is also working with the Boston Redevelopment Authority on master plans for the commercial area of the Back Bay and the edges of the new Rose Kennedy Greenway. Both planning initiatives will produce new performance-based zoning districts.

Love is an Associate Professor at the Northeastern University School of Architecture in Boston. While on sabbatical in spring 2009, he coordinated and taught the urbanism studio at Yale. He taught design theory at the Harvard GSD from 1997 until 2002, served on the jury for the 2009 National AIA Urban Design Awards, and is a frequent guest critic at Harvard, MIT and Yale.

In addition to writing for Places, Love contributes to Harvard Design Magazine, Constructs (Yale) and Architecture Boston.
