	<title><![CDATA[Responding to "Viral Cities"]]></title>
	<description><![CDATA[Interesting.  But rather than plan cities to be able to forestall population movement and access the critically ill, it would be more profitable to plan cities of salubrity: where sanitation, hygiene, light air, and adequate dwelling densities promoted nutrition, exercise and health.<br />
<br />
The real lesson of epidemics like H1N1, Mad Cow, and eColi is that farming practices and their supervision are woefully inadequate, particularly when animals are kept in overly crowded, filthy conditions, and where they are processed in equally septic abattoirs.  Factory farms seem purposely designed to replicate the worst aspects of Dickensian cities, with similarly predictable results.  That is also a design and management problem that deserves urgent attention.]]></description>
