Thanks all. And Carl, A+ taste on that Kinks reference. And I love that picture. I'm interested in Gottschall's book (though Adam Gopnik's review of it was pretty crushing). I heard Gottschall interviewed somewhere and he was rather interesting.

Bizarro jokes aside, I think it would be interesting to apply Rob’s “Bizarro storytelling exercise” to politics.

Rob also touches on some of the points made by Jonathan Gottschall in his book “The Storytelling Animal” in his essay Monkey or Drone. Found here.

I am really loving the concept behind the so called Bizarro excersice, namely because of the reversed measures to be considered and valued! Imagine of every company had such a standpoint when creating their product, for example..pretty in-depth post!

at first i though the above comment was some a reference to the iphone example and how products were produced, but no, looks like it is actually an advert for wholesale, in possibly the least appropriate place possible..

the bizzaro storytelling idea is a great idea, companies shouldn't be allowed to get away with those aspects of there business that they try so hard to conceal.

One of my favorite storytellers recently attended the GOP (POG) debate and someone there snapped this photo of him. It ran in the Huffington Post.
The photo reminds me of my favorite lyrics from the Kinks.
'cos compared to the flowers and the birds
And the trees,
I am an APEMAN.
