Accidental Mysteries

Accidental Mysteries is an online curiosity shop of extraordinary things, mined from the depths of the online world and brought to you each week by John Foster, a writer, designer and longtime collector of self-taught art and vernacular photography. “I enjoy the search for incredible, obscure objects that challenge, delight and amuse my eye. More so, I enjoy sharing these discoveries with the diverse and informed readers of Design Observer.”

Love this collection, John. Would love to see that Ornithopter fly! Or, at the very least, attempt to...
Karin Soukup

That fly costume is so literal that it's radical! These days we've gotten so used to what a humanoid-insect "should" look like, with animated films and cheap halloween costumes, that the obvious approach would be to pull insect features into human proportion––always making things adapt to us instead of ever losing ourselves in a foreign form, as in this example.

I ♥ this collection !

Happy New Year !
