Here are Today’s images.

TODAY is a weekly jewel box of seemingly random, yet thoughtfully selected, images. At times tender, wicked, nostalgic, amusing, and dazzling, each edition is presented without narration, editing or explanation by its author, designer Eric Baker. "It all began as a goof. One day I sent a good friend about 50 random pictures of cheese. I don't know why, but to me cheese is funny, perhaps it is the word itself and its various connotations.  Eventually I began looking closer, or should I say broader at 'things'. Things lost on the fringes...ordinary, odd, beautiful things.  Esoteric images, old diagrams, typography, cartography — visions of a once promising but now extinct future."

Editor's Note: All images link to their original source and are copyright their original owners.

Great post. I cut my graphic eye teeth on these posters, inspiring my love of the hand drawn letter and image.

Ouch! It's 0730 here in the UK, and I don't think my eyes have quite adjusted to that level of glaring colour!

I think, I'm rather glad that design and tyopgraphy have calmed down since the 70's.

It's hard to believe that these posters were all done by hand.
With today's computer programs it would take 20 minutes
to produce IF THE COMPUTER DESIGNER KNEW HOW TO DESIGN.

Well first of congrats on this great collection! BUT I think I'm going to have to agree with M. Cotter - I am to some what relived that especially typography has calmed down since the 70's (which means that the stuff is nicer to read!). BUT despite the eyecancer-effect some of those posters give you, I think it should be menjoned, that unlike todays posters (not all of them but most...) you can call this stuff Art! I find it amazing how they tried to bring design and functionality together, and as one can see the balance point was definetley on the design part - nevertheless, amazing work! (concidering - as oat taylor said - they did it purely by hand...)

I saw the 'Acid Test' image with Uncle Sam, and thought it could be for the web browser ACID test, which looks at browser performance. Wiki Refernce to ACID3.
