50 Books/50 Covers

Information & Guidelines Judges & Advisors Nominate a Book Nominations Winners

Nominate a Book

A book can only be nominated once. To see if a book or cover has already been nominated, please see our list of nominated books. When nominating a book or cover, please remember our eligibility requirements.

All entires require an uploaded image in .jpg or .png format. We request that the image be 150dpi and 4 inches/600 pixles wide. If your book or cover is selected as a winner, we will contact you for more images for our and AIGA's archives.

For a book to be considered in the 50 Books competition, a physical copy must be mailed to Design Observer once the entry has been accepted and posted on Design Observer. Only physical books in our possession will ultimately be judged. Book covers entered in the 50 Covers competition will be judged on the digital file uploaded during the nomination process: physical copies do not need to be submitted.

Books should be mailed to Design Observer, 150 Deepwood Drive, Hamden CT 06517. (Books will not be returned, and will be donated to the Winterhouse Collection of Books on Design and Visual Culture at Yale University.)

Information shown on our site is as provided by the nominators. If you see errors or wish to make corrections, please write to designobserver [@] We are especially interested in correct design credits, as these are not generally available on Amazon or publisher's sites. We apologize in advance if design credits are not complete or accurate.

Nominations will generally be approved within one week, and then posted to this site. They will not immediately be visible after you submit your nomination.
In order to nominate a book you need to have an account with Design Observer. If you have an account, please log in below. If not, registration is simple and free. Register now >>
