Trailer for Film: Waiting for Superman

This is one of the trailers for the new film, Waiting for Superman. Produced by BUCK entirely in info-graphics, it explores the current state of public education in the U.S. and the implications it has for children.

When I first saw it, with the audio off, I was surprised, encouraged and excited by the use of the word "child" instead of "kid' or "kids".
But alas, in the audio, they could not help themselves.
Other than that, it was great.
Social commentary in trailers, beauty. After others in credits, ie The Other guys, when do the combatants start.

Make a difference. Pledge to see the film? Come on. They had me until that final slide ;-)

I think the root problem is really with the breakdown of families. Take these (great) ideas and take one step back. Why would it be the teacher's fault a student drops out? The family context I grew up in communicated loudly & clearly that dropping out was unacceptable. It went without saying. Bad teachers or not, I was responsible for learning. My family communicated that, not teachers. Yes, not everyone comes from a family like mine, but that is not the fault of the teachers. Fix families, fix the nation.

What an amazing video. Very powerful! and I agree with you Joni B. It starts with the family. The infographic approach was a fantastic idea and communicates the message very appropriatly.

Great FILM! Great Promo piece!

Education, or -the lack of- is at the root of our current ideological problems. It serves well some the interest of some to keep America dumb and dumber. The psychological underpinning of the family environment affects kids in deed, but LACK OF a good education, in secondary and POST secondary levels (ADULT AGE) is what produces MEDIEVAL and anti scientific public policies (GOP anyone)

Great work for progress!

@Joni I totally agree. I was like, "this is fantastic and inspiring", then it ended with that call to action? seriously? Kind of comes of like, schools suck, we are going to promote this issue, but only because we can profit off it. That did not leave me feeling inspired rather jaded that everything has to be about hype, profit and immediate gratification.
