Pawnee Brave, circa 1920

Glasier took publicity photographs for the major outdoor entertainment organizations, which allowed him special access to the circus lot and performers. His portrait of a Pawnee brave with a drum outside of a tent is illustrative of his admiration for Native Americans and mirrored the country’s fascination with the vanishing West and its peoples.
