Paul Shaw is a designer and a design historian. He is the author (and co-designer) of Helvetica and the New York City Subway System and the co-author of Blackletter: Type and National Identity. He writes for Print, Eye, Baseline, AIGA Voice and his own slow blog called Blue Pencil.
