S3E11: Melissa Harris

Melissa Harris is editor at large of the Aperture Foundation and the author of A Wild Life: A Visual Biography of Photographer Michael Nichols.

Nichols, a veteran of Magnum Photos and National Geographic, has photographed elephants, tigers, chimpanzees, and other endangered species. After immersing himself in the scientific literature, he will spend months in the field, getting to know individual animals and observing them closely:
He's not just trying to get a tiger, he's trying to tell the story of Sita and Charger. He's going to watch them, day after day after day or night after night. He's going to look at their habits. He's going to look at where they eat, where they drink, what happens when they kill an animal, how Sita with her cubs, how she is with her cubs that are not sired by Charger. He's just watching everything.
