S6E4: Reneé Seward & Chester Jenkins
Reneé Seward teaches communication design at the University of Cincinnati and is the founder of See Word Reading. Chester Jenkins is a partner in Constellation, which creates new typefaces, and Village, a coop that publishes them.
Seward created an interactive typeface to help children who have difficulty learning to read.
She began by doing research in private schools that specialized in teaching dyslexic students:
They know how to help people break through barriers to learn to read, and they have all these different techniques, writing in sand or skywriting. How do I take what I see here in these private schools that probably more privileged kids can have, and use technology and design to back that up into something that a public school might have?
