S8E12: Nikil Saval

Nikil Saval is a Pennsylvania state senator and the author of Cubed: A Secret History of the Workplace.

Until he won a seat representing much of Philadelphia, Saval supported himself as a freelance writer on architecture and design. He says his ideas about urban policy have been shaped by the Green New Deal, which

points to the way that all of our lives are actually really damaged by not having enacted strong transit or having toxic schools, as we do in Philadelphia, by siting those near landfills or near incinerators. I mean, you start to then think about your world and environmental or climatological terms and you’re like, well, this is terrible! This is the so-called quality of life that we all are trying to protect?
