John Foster | Accidental Mysteries

Accidental Mysteries

Accidental Mysteries is an online curiosity shop of extraordinary things, mined from the depths of the online world and brought to you each week by John Foster, a writer, designer and longtime collector of self-taught art and vernacular photography. “I enjoy the search for incredible, obscure objects that challenge, delight and amuse my eye. More so, I enjoy sharing these discoveries with the diverse and informed readers of Design Observer.”

Amazing images -- the only thing that's missing is a map tracking an iphone user's locations over the course of a year. I'm sure the patterns would be amazing to look at.

Pic 9 - not really a mystery - actually relatively well known illustration for an Edgar Allan Poe story, Descent into the Maelstrom, illustration by Harry Clarke 1919

fantastic! I really love the randomness of things in the images. It's a collection of order within chaos. Thank you, very enjoyable.

Very nice! Part of me wishes there were descriptions of each image but the rest of me enjoys the mystery of trying to figure them out. Thanks for posting!
