The Observers

Over the course of this project, it should come as no surprise that I've encountered other people photographing all matter of subjects.

I have also came across (predictably perhaps) countless sightseeing tourists recording their experiences. Some of the more curious, or architectually minded, take photos of buildings. I don’t know their backstories or what brought them to the cities I've encountered them in, but they all share an interest in seeing a city’s culture and history through its buildings.

Sara Jamshidi is a research-led designer with a practice that spans between the realms of special collections, language, and identity. She was Senior Designer at Design Observer before attending Royal College of Art in London to get her Master's degree in Visual Communication. Sara is currently Assistant Professor and Director of BFA Graphic Design at Corcoran School of the Art and Design at GWU in Washington DC.
