50 Books/50 Covers: Announcements

50/50

The winners of the 2011 50 Books 50 Covers competition have been posted! You can view the 50 Books winners here, and the 50 Covers winners here.

In order to ensure we surveyed as many books as possible we made a few changes to the competition: we included short-run publications as well as commercially printed books, any English-language book, regardless of country of origin or publication and removed the fee associated with a book entry. This led to over 1,000 submissions, most of which were accepted and have been posted as entries in the 2011 competition.

In hopes of extending the submissions for the 2012 competition we are opening the submission process today. The process is the same as the 2011 competition: A 35-person advisory board will nominate worthy books and covers for consideration. Nominations are also open to anyone through a simple online process. There will be no entry fee. There will be no long forms to fill out. To nominate a book published in 2012, start the process here.

Congratulations to all the designers, illustrators, art directors and publishers for creating an amazing collection of books in 2011.

Historical 50 Books / 50 Covers collections from 1995-2010 are viewable in the AIGA Design Archives.
