Another note of praise for Brian and is job at the Times was furthering the Op Art role for artists. He continually pushed artists and editors as to what could be done. Not an easy task. It is worth mention that it was Brian Rea who approached Times editors about Christoph Niemann doing his "Abstract City" blog for readers. This has been huge. Not only for Christoph but for the profession in general.
