Jessica Helfand, chair, is a founding editor of Design Observer, is an award-winning graphic designer and writer. A former contributing editor and columnist for Print, Eye and Communications Arts magazine, she is a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale and a recent laureate of the Art Director’s Hall of Fame. Jessica received both her BA and MFA from Yale University where she has taught since 1994. In 2013, she won the AIGA medal.

Rodrigo Corral has created some of the most iconic visuals in publishing. Open to all projects big and small, he is a celebrated designer, partnering with talent such as Junot Diaz, Jay-Z, Deepak and Sanjiv Chopra, Chuck Palahniuk, Tory Burch, Gianna Angelopoulos, Gary Shteyngart, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, and organizations such as the Criterion Collection, New York Magazine and The New York Times.

In addition to running the Rodrigo Corral studio, he is also the Creative Director for Farrar, Straus & Giroux and Creative Director at Large for New Directions.

Carin Goldberg was born in New York City and studied at The Cooper Union School of Art. She began her career as a staff designer at CBS Television, CBS Records and Atlantic Records. She established her own studio in 1982. Her work expanded to book jacket design, publication design, brand consulting, editorial illustration, posters, authorship, and curation. Carin lectures and exhibits internationally and her work is archived in the permanent collections of the Bibliothèque nationale de France,The Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. In 2009 she received the American Institute of Graphic Arts Gold Medal and in 2012 The Cooper Union awarded her the Augustus Saint-Gaudens Medal for distinguished achievement in art. That same year she received The Cooper Union President’s Citation for “exceptional contributions to the field of graphic design … recognizing outstanding citizenship, ethics and social responsibility”. In 2010 a retrospective of her work and career was exhibited at Musée Géo-Charles, Échirolles, France. In 2008 Carin completed a two-year term as president of the New York Chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts. She has been a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale since 1998 and served on its board of directors from 2006-2009. Carin has taught at the School of Visual Arts in New York City for 35 years and is one of the first recipients of the Art Directors Club Grandmasters Award for Excellence in Education. In 2014 Carin won the Cynthia Hazen Polsky and Leon Polsky Rome Prize for Design earning a six month fellowship at The American Academy in Rome.

Maricris Herrera, is the founder, director and head designer of Estudio Herrera, founded in Mexico City in 2007 as a collaborative practice to explore the possibilities of design in the production of arts and culture. It has since become one of the leading design studios in the city. From 2013 to 2015, Maricris was head of graphic design and editor in chief at Museo Jumex (Mexico City). She has worked in collaboration with artists such as Damián Ortega, Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin, Josef Strau, Gonzalo Lebrija, Danh Vo, Mario García Torres, Eduardo Sarabia, Eduardo Costa, Anri Sala, Gustav Metzger, Pedro Reyes and Jorge Méndez Blake. In 2014 she was invited to edit and design the catalog on the occasion of the 8th Berlin Biennial. In 2015 she founded Ediciones MP, a contemporary art publishing house based in Mexico City. Herrera ́s recent projects includes: the graphic identity, the art direction of the publications and ongoing consultancy for Museo Tamayo (Mexico City); the graphic identity for MSU Broad (Michigan, US); the web graphic desgin for Frida Escobedo, Taller de Arquitectura (Mexico City); the graphic design for an exhibiton in Bard College (New York); the John Baldessari ́s book design on the occasion of the John Baldessari exhibition in Museo Jumex (Mexico City): “Learning to Read With John Baldessari”.
