Flickr Collection of the Week: Damaged Goods
Victorian Women Tintype by newmexico51
Damaged Goods is a Flickr gallery curated by ART NAHPRO, who describes it this way: Some people like to restore and clean up old images. I generally like the scratches stains and patina that these fragile objects have acquired on their passage through life. We agree, the passage of time often adds interest and beauty.
For more on the effect of time on film, read our two reviews of Bill Morrison’s Decasia, one by Jessica Helfand and the other by Rick Poynor. Sometimes it’a about capturing the passage of time in the photograph — Rick has also written on the unspeakable pleasure of ruins, and Places has a gallery of the effects of the last few decades on Detroit.
