Ji Lee

Ji Lee is a communication designer at Facebook, and a former designer and creative director at the Google Creative Lab. He is also known for his illustrations and public art projects, and as a design educator at the School of Visual Arts.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1971, Lee moved to Brazil when he was ten, and later came to New York City to study at Parsons School of Design. He graduated with a degree in communication and graphic design.

Lee is known for his public art project the Bubble Project, in which he printed 50,000 stickers shaped like the speech bubbles used in comic strips. Posted around New York City on top of advertisements, the blank stickers allowed the public to write their comments and thoughts in them, transforming a corporate monologue into a true public dialogue. The project culminated in 2006, with a book about the project titled Talk Back: The Bubble Project.
