Nicholas Blechman

Nicholas Blechman is an illustrator and designer. He’s also an art director and he’s had some really plum jobs in recent years. He was the art director of the New York Times Book Review, and also art director of the Times op-ed page. He’s currently the creative director at the New Yorker. His own eye-catching illustrations have appeared frequently in those and many other publications. He is the author of several children’s books and he’s also taught design at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

On this podcast Debbie talks to Nicholas Blechman about the importance of political satire. “For satire to be effective it has to be dangerous. So the more it appears as a threat from those in power, then it’s doing it’s job.”
