What Design Sounds Like
On February 21, 2015, Design Observer will host the first design-centered event of its kind: a one-day symposium that explores the relationship between design and sound.
We’re calling it What Design Sounds Like.
How are visual cues linked to spoken language? How are words potent triggers for images? Why do we love podcasts, need soundtracks, crave music videos? On Saturday February 21, we’re going to ask those questions and more.
We’ll look at experimental design projects, listen to innovative radio podcasters, and explore the role design plays in the dissemination of ideas through image and image through sound. From live interviews to musical performances, dynamic discussions to spirited debate, we will gather to explore what design sounds like.
This event will be held in New York City at the School of Visual Arts. It is free and open to the public, but requires advance registration as there are only 500 seats available.
