Hello Erik.
This week Design Observer celebrates the US release of the new visual biography of Erik Spiekermann, edited by Johannes Erler and published by Gestalten.
Working in close collaboration, Erler and Spiekermann have gathered the self-described typomaniac’s life’s work, interviews, personal photographs, and studio histories and paired them with observations from friends and colleagues in Hello, I am Erik.
Over the course of the week, Design Observer will be featuring excerpts from the book. Gestalten have produced this video preview featuring Spiekermann in his new letterpress studio, P98A.
If you’re in New York, the Type Director’s Club is holding a launch party for the book on November 4, from 7 to 9 pm. More information here.
Join us this week in a hearty congratulations to Erik and Johannes.
