S4E12: Jessica Dimmock

Jessica Dimmock is a photographer and filmmaker.

Dimmock points her lens at people society often chooses to look away from: heroin addicts, senior trans women. Her latest project is Flint Town, an eight-part documentary series about the police in Flint, Michigan. Dimmock says she hopes viewers will feel

like we’re just in closer proximity to one another than we were when we started. And so I hope if I do that in a way that’s just kind of honest and raw, that the natural things that bubble up in all of us will bubble up in the characters that I document, and that the audience will just kind of understand them more and I think in understanding them more will hopefully have a greater sense of compassion.
