Ben Watson is the chief creative officer of Herman Miller. What do they consider when they create furniture and workspaces for their clients?
So you might think that, oh, I’m thinking about my providing them with the right ergonomic chair and accessories to actually give them good physical support if they are doing seated computer-driven tasks work for many hours a day. That’s really important, to attend to the physical needs of someone.
But it’s not only that, we talked about spiritual and emotional needs as well. And so what does it mean to feel secure in your workplace? Do I have an opportunity to have a private conversation with a loved one when I need to make that phone call? Do I have an opportunity to have signs that say I belong here?
